The Fonz saves the game

The Cubs held an 8 - 3 lead until the 9th inning. Marquis was superb in 5 and half innings of work and only allowed 3 runs. Michael Wuertz came in and couldn't hold the Rockies from getting on base. Then it was the struggling Scott Eyre's turn. Eyre proved he is still having issues as he gave up 3 runs and struck out 2. Bob Howry came in to finish the deal but he only struck out 1 and gave up 3 runs to blow the save.

Eyre and Howry were the two dominant closing guys in the national league and they are now hanging on to needle and thread. One of these guys may be involved in a trade that may just include Jones to get a pitcher that will stop the 9th inning bleeding for the Cubs.

The Cubs came up in the bottom of the 9th inning and loaded the bases on bobbled Rockies play. Soriano then came in and singled in two runs to give the Cubs a 10 - 9 win.

Mike Fontenot went 5 -5 with 2 RBIs

Angel Pagan hit his 3rd home run of the year
