Getting past the dirty players in Atlanta

6/13/2007 12:50 AM

The Cubs left Atlanta and aren't looking back. The Braves found that hitting batters and running into our fielders trying to clothes line fielders is the only way they can win a game. The Houston make up game at Wrigley Monday has given the Cubs some momentum to build on at home. Carlos Zambrano came out at Wrigley and pitched 8 innings and struck out 8. He handled the Astros by only allowing them to score 1 run and letting Dempster close it out for him in the 9th inning.

The Cubs started the series against Seattle with Rich Hill on the mound Tuesday. Hill pitched 6 innings, struck out 4 and gave up three of the 5 runs. The game stood at a 3 to 3 tie for 13 innings before Will Ohman gave up the two runs. Oh! Barrett actually gave up the 2 runs because that is how the media put it.

Granite Barrett has been having a rough time with excepting the Cubs performance and he has been rather vocal about it. I think he is just thinking like us fans do and that is he wants the Cubs to win. Barrett is probably the biggest fan on that team and he is very passionate about it. How ever his heart may seem to be getting in the way of his performance. Barrett and Hill had a strong discussion the other day in the dug out and the media made it seem as if they were throwing fists. Lou decided to give Barrett some time off to gather himself. Barrett doesn't need this on his shoulders. He has enough to deal with. Let him get back to the way he knows how to play. We need the Michael Barrett that loves the Cubs and plays the game really well.

Wednesday the Cubs Sean Marshall went to the mound and kept Seattle at bay. He struck out one batter but he lasted eight innings and gave up only two runs. Sean has pitched better but he had Seattle hitting the ball right where he wanted them too. It was like another side of him that we had never seen before. The Cubs put up three runs to get the win. Cliff Floyd brought in one in the third and the rookie Mike Fontenot brought the other two. What a night for the rookies!!
