Hill is outstanding

6/8/2007 9:00 AM

Rich Hill put in 8 innings of work and had his stuff going. He struck out 11 batters Gave up 3 hits, walked 1 and gave up one run from a home run. Hill's arm action was perfect because the pitches were looking like fast balls or sliders and then out of no where they would drop like a rock and it would be a curve ball. He was also fooling batters by giving them the high fast one and they wouldn't know if it was going to drop or not. Hill definitely had his stuff going and his work looked a lot like he did in April.

Demster came on in the 9th inning and got his 12th save of the season. Soriano and Pie brought the runs in to give the Cubs the win. Although Soriano and Pie have been putting on a show the rest of the line up has been rather quiet. Hopefully Soriano and Pie can lift the Cubs offense and start getting more out of Lee, Barrett, Jones and Derosa.

Lilly gets roughed up by the Brewers big bats

6/5/2007 8:30 PM

Lilly couldn't come through as he gave up 6 runs and only struck out 2 in 5 innings of work. Three of the Brewers found something in Lilly's delivery as they took his pitches for a ride. The bull pen gave up a run but kept the Brew crew in tact for the most part.

The Cubs tried to come back as Floyd contributed a jack of his own but 5 runs could not match the 7 runs the Brewers scored.

The Cubs were a bit over matched in this game but Lilly didn't seem to have his arm action going for him as the Brewers were able to spot his sweet curve balls that can be hit right to go out of the park.

The Cubs continue charge as they defeat the Brew crew

6/4/2007 8:15 PM

Jason Marquis didn't have his prime stuff but he managed the Brewers for 6 innings by striking out 3 and giving up only 2 runs. Carlos Murmol, Wil Ohman and Michael Wuertz handled the Brewers for 3 innings to help Marquis out. They gave up only 1 hit and struck out 3. Ryan Demster came in and closed the game out to keep himself true.

The star of the show was Soriano in his 5 for 5 with a home run game. Soriano is starting to heat up since his buddy Felix Pie has returned to the line up to fill in for Daryle Ward. Soriano, Lee, Ramirez and Izturiz worked together by scoring the RBIs to get the Cubs the 7 - 2 win over the first place Brewers.
