Today’s outing by Zambrano was another pathetic pitching
performance. He pitched 6 innings and struck out 6 batters. He also gave up
six runs. The Cubs couldn’t even muster 6 runs in the last two days. Only
two of the runs were actually legitimate runs anyway. Angel Pagan is back and at least tried to help by hitting a
home run. Aramis hit a home run also. The hitting has taken an unusual turn
as they are swinging at bad pitches early in the count and not getting
runners in. This game is suppose to be fun but so far they are proving to
struggle more than anything. The sweep they got against the Nationals was a
Joke. They barely won those games and the Nationals are 9 – 23. Jones is struggling because he doesn’t know where is going to
be playing day to day. Theriot and Lee are creating production but unable
to make production turn into runs. The pitching can probably take some blame but all the games
that the Cubs have lost have been a score that is reachable. The problem is
there is no effort and fundamentals are out the door. Fielding errors, miscommunication, bad at bats and slumping
attitudes are making this team into the losing team that we have seen so
many years before. If the Cubs would legitimately go out there and have fun
and quit getting upset over the bad things then some good may come out of
it. Right now there is a lot of room for improvement and the chemistry this
team could possess has been there.
