The Cubs came in strong for this game but could not come through on the 8 hits they got. There were plenty of opportunities that the Cubs had men in scoring position but they could not capitalize. This has actually been an ongoing issue with the Cubs bats. That is why they are struggling to win one and two run games.

The starting pitching has been awesome but they have face week batting teams for the most part also. They have since managed to pull out the wins to get then to a .500 average. It is good to be able to practice winning the tight games but what are they going to do when there is a 5 or 10 run deficit to come back from. Not that they haven’t done so this year but it has been as often as it should.

Marquis managed to save Jacque Jones any criticism by pitching a complete game and not giving up any runs. Jason struck out 5 and only allowed 3 hits in 9 innings. Jacque Jones went 0 – 4 because he mainly was hitting bad pitches. Jacque should be able to turn this around. Usually when some one frustrates him one night he comes back the next day and he is the star of the game.
