Zambrano is struggling still to get back to the ace status that
he was last year. The bats came through to save him today. The hired guns
are in effect now. Derek Lee, Alfonso Soriano, Cliff Floyd and Felix Pie
all had RBIs yesterday to help the Cubs come back from a 4 run deficit. It
is nice to have the bats to come back and win a game. This is a game that
would have been lost last year or the year before. Zambrano pitched 6 innings struck out 4 and gave up 4 runs. Lou
brought in the bull pen to help and Cotts, Wuertz, Ohman, Howry and
Dempster shut down any possible come back. The bull pen ERA is getting more
confident numbers but I think Lou is sketchy about leaving these guys in to
long. I don't blame him because the longer you leave them in the more
chances for mistakes. The one person Lou will be looking for is a long
reliever so don't be surprised if Wuertz or Cotts get a bit of a test in
the future. Cotts used to be a starter so he will be one of Lou's projects. The Cubs finish this game with a 6 to 4 win. They will try to
improve there record at home this weekend and next week as they take on the
Nationals and the Pirates.
