Is there such a thing as a good loss?

On a day that we all reflected back to history on the 60th
Anniversary of one of the greatest ball player in the Major Leagues the
Cubs could not get the key hits to win the ball game. This was a pitchers
game that took the bats out of both teams hands. Derrek Lee, Cliff Floyd
and Jacque Jones couldn’t make Jacie Robinson’s number work for them as
they struggled to get the Cubs the runs they needed to win.
Ted Lilly struck out 10 batters, walked 1 and gave up only 2
hits and 1 run. On the other side Kyle Lohse struck out 12 batters, walked
1 and gave up 4 hits and no runs. I am not sure if this was just an off day
for hitters of if both pitchers were really that much on their mark. There
were some pitches by Lohse that probably shouldn’t have been swung at and
the Cubs seemed like they were trying to hard to get hits. The 4 hits they
got were from Soriano and and 3 hits from Ryan Theriot. It begs the question.
Are the Cubs tired? Are they just not performing to there ability? It seems
strange that the two players that hit the ball today are one that is over
paid and needs to make hits. The other is a rookie that is going to be
making a mark in the major leagues.
