Ken Griffey Jr. asked
to wear the number 42 on April 15 for the 50th Anniversary of
Jackie Robinsons entry into baseball. Commissioner Bud Selig not only
approved but asked all the other ball clubs to do the same. Jim Hendry
asked Derrek Lee to wear the number 42 on April 15. Derrek Lee was honored
to do so because if it wasn’t for Jackie he wouldn’t be were he is today.

The first series loss
4/6/2007 7:15 AM
Jason Marquis made a
good debut but he received little to no support from the bats and the bull pen.
Jason pitched 6 innings struck out one gave up only 4 hits and 1 run. Howry
came on and gave up 2 hits and 2 runs to take the loss. Scott Eyre gave up
two more runs to make things worse.
The Cubs are so far not
living up to the expectations. Even though the pitching has not been the
greatest it has really been the bats that are sleeping. The Cubs combined
for 10 hits and only scored 2 runs. They are back to having the same issue
that haunted them the last 3 years. Cold weather months slow the bats down.
DeRosa belted a home run and went 2 for 3. Ramirez went 3 for 4 with an
RBI. Hits came but they couldn’t get the runs across the plate. The Cubs
will need to start making key hits when runners are on base. This sort of
thing can be habit forming and the season I mean 300 million dollars will
go down the drain.
I guess this is what we
are used to though. Hopefully this is just the early season blues.
